Not your average firework photos

Here are my eight selects from my D.C. fireworks take.

My goal was to come away with something that no one else had.

These were shot with a Canon T2i and 50 mm lens.

CU falls to Oregon State

On Saturday the Buffs lost 64-58 to Oregon State in their final home game of the season. I decided to shoot it because it had been more than a year since I’d shot basketball. Good times.

Also wanted to introduce a new storytelling technique I’m trying out… Gifs. Please click on the image below to see the gif.

Norlin Retreat

This fall I was lucky enough to be accepted into the Norlin Scholars program at CU, a scholarship community that brings together students from all over campus in research and camaraderie. On friday we headed up into the hills to get to know each other a little better.

Every year about two dozen students are accepted to the program, most of which are freshman but some of which are juniors. This was the group that went up to Cal-Wood Education Center near Jamestown, Colo.

Below are my photos from about 24 hours of Norlin.

CUI: WelcomeFest

It’s that time of year again. The freshman have converged on campus to begin a new chapter of their lives.

In attempts to make that transition as easy as possible, CU puts on a free concert for students every year.

Ghostland Observatory headlined, accompanied by Sunsquabi, Hoodie Allen and Minnesota.

Here are my photos from the night.

CUI: President Barack Obama

Slackline competition

Last semester, I was walking through Norlin Quad and noticed a group of people around a slackline. Curiosity got the better of me so I pulled out my camera and went over to check it out. Turned out to be a competition where the winner would be sent to a national competition in Boston. The event was also trying to raise awareness of protecting the trees on campus from damage often caused by poorly constructed slacklines. These are some of the best photos I got last semester, and all on accident.

Check out the story on the CU Independent for more information.

Moving In

Recently, I followed a high school friend and her family around as she moved into her new dorm in Hallett Hall at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

To her family: Thank you for letting me creep, I hope you enjoy the photos. I may add some more in the next few days and if so, I’ll inform Chelsea.
